Swedged rods are also known as swedged anchor bolt or swedged anchor rod. It can be used an alternative to the headed anchor bolt, bent anchor bolt, epoxy anchor, or the threaded anchor rod. These rods see their usage in projects involving highways, especially alongside bridge bearings. The threaded end tends to project from the concrete and the embedded end comes with indentations that are pressed appropriately into the round bar so as to provide pull-out resistance. The AASHTO and the National Steel Bridge Alliance normally refer to these anchors as swaged anchor rods. Well, the indentations present on these rods are generally formed when the deformations are first pressed into the rod after which the steel is displaced rather than the steel being machined away in order to form dimples.
